Peer Support
Emotional accompaniment from people who understand your experience
At VIHve Libre, we believe no one should face an HIV diagnosis alone. Our peer support program offers a safe, confidential, and empathetic space where you can share your emotions and receive support from those who have lived similar experiences.
Our Principles
Three fundamental pillars guide our work
Always Free
Our support services never have a cost. We believe emotional support is a right, not a privilege.
Always Community-Based
We work from and for the community. Our approach is horizontal, inclusive, and centered on people's real needs.
Always Peer-to-Peer
The heart of our program are people with lived experience who can offer authentic and empathetic understanding.
Thursday Gatherings
A safe space waiting for you every week
Every Thursday at 7:00 PM (Mexico Central Time, UTC-6), we hold a peer support meeting. No matter the circumstances, rain or shine, our community knows there's a space where they'll be welcomed, heard, and supported.

Meeting Structure
Central Speaker
Each session features a speaker who opens the space with a personal reflection or topic of interest.
Support Rooms
Intimate and confidential spaces where participants can freely share emotions, thoughts, and struggles.
Personalized Follow-up
We identify those who need continuous support and offer accompaniment beyond the meeting.
Support Beyond the Meeting
Accompaniment doesn't stop when the session ends
If during or after a session we identify someone who may benefit from ongoing emotional support, we follow up beyond that initial meeting.
We assess the person's emotional needs and, depending on availability:
Professional Connection
We connect them with a mental health professional who collaborates with us on a volunteer basis.
Peer Pairing
We pair them with a trained peer volunteer with lived experience who can offer understanding and guidance.
Even when professional psychological services aren't immediately available, we ensure that no one goes through this alone.
Compassionate Continuity
A commitment that goes beyond one-time intervention
Our peer support is not a one-off intervention. We commit to continuity and follow-up. We stay present for as long as the person needs, walking with them until the immediate crisis passes or they begin to feel emotionally stable and supported.
This approach combines peer wisdom with professional guidance, forming a compassionate network that centers the lived experience of people with HIV.
Our goal is to create a community of care that holds space for vulnerability, dignity, and healing.
